Congregation and Children

September 4, 2011: Regular Services and Religious Education Classes Resume
We kicked off the 2011-2012 season of regular services and religious education classes. The service featured a Sermon by our own Norma Simpson, "A Unitarian Universalist looks at how a Jewish Rabbi became a Gentile God".

Pool Party Line

September 3, 2011: Annual Labor Day Celebration
Members and friends enjoyed a pool party and potluck picnic at the home of two of our folks.

Chuck's Cabinets

August, 2011: Kitchen Cabinets Moved
Led by Chuck Wimberly, a team of All Souls Waccamaw men moved a row of cabinets from one part of the kitchen to another part and finished off all of the affected areas. The kitchen is now much more functional. Thanks Chuck and guys!

S. M. Forum Photo

August 28, 2011: Sunday Morning Forum Concludes
In July and August, the Forum met on 9 Sundays, discussing the book by Karen Armstrong, "Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life." The summer session of the Forum has concluded, but we expect to have a winter session early next year.

May 1, 2011: Annual Meeting of the Congregation
The congregation voted to expand the size of the Board of Trustees from 5 to 7 members, and we elected members to serve in the unfilled positions for Church Year 2011-2012. The composition of the new board is:

President:   Larry Landrum
Vice President:   Deb Bonner
Secretary:   Nefer Lewis
Treasurer:   Rita D'Ippolito
At Large:   L. P. Bell
At Large:   Dee Whitman
At Large:   Rachel Fehrer

Snowbird Dinner Photo

February 18, 2011: Annual Snowbird Dinner Party
Each winter, our congregation swells, as we are joined by our loyal friends who vacation in the Myrtle Beach area to escape from their less temperate climates. These snowbirds, as we affectionately call them, participate in all of our activities and add a lot of vitality to our congregation. Each year we celebrate their participation with a potluck dinner party in their honor. This year's Snowbird party, at the home of the Stewarts, was attended by 27 people. Just as Southern Californians await the return of the swallows to Capistrano each year, so too do we now await the return of our snowbirds for the 2011-2012 season.

Dedication Congregation

May 24, 2009: Church Building Dedication Service
This is now old news, but it's still good news. We filled our pews (well, OK, our chairs) to dedicate our wonderful new church building. Rev. Alex Richardson, then from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greensboro (NC) presided. Music was provided by the choir from the Greensboro church. Lunch was served after the service. A glorious day to be sure! More pictures here.
