President Pamela’s Updates

Welcome home!

As the incoming President of the Board for our beloved All Souls Waccamaw Unitarian Universalist Congregation, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all our members and guests in  the new 2017-2018 church year. I hope each of you had fun, productive and safe adventures this summer. Our end of summer pool party was a big hit on September 3rd.

I am sure we are all busy this week. Hurricane Irma brought us more than we bargained for with our Homecoming Water Communion last Sunday September 10th. We are resilient, hard working, and a positive bunch of people and will recover. I am pleased to announce that there is no visible damage to our sanctuary. The few fallen limbs will get picked up this week to tidy things up. If any member or friend to the congregation is need of help, please let us know. Many hands make light work.

Speaking of many hands…

On behalf of the congregation, I want to extend a sincere thank you to our to previous board members: President Katie Reitman, Vice President Michael Beeler, Treasurer Chuck Wimberly, and Secretary and RE director Kristen McClellan.

I also want to acknowledge the efforts of our former Pulpit Chair Rho Anderson, our Membership Coordinator Sally Hattig, and our dedicated volunteers maintaining the grounds Don Skleener and Veronica Walters. To each of you and many more, thank you so much for your commitment and contributions.

We are looking for volunteers for the many tasks required to maintain the health of our church. There will be a brief board and membership meet and greet following the service on September 17th with more info.

We have some outstanding speakers lined up this fall to inspire and strengthen our community. We have planned a fun kid’s curriculum for Religious Education, too. We will be learning about World Religions and reflecting on the universal oneness of all people. Visit our calendar for more info.

I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces and enjoying our fabulous potlucks this year!
